A West Australian teacher has lost an appeal over her firing after she threatened a student through a series of text messages, warning her to “tell the truth” at a hearing into her alleged unfair dismissal.

The woman, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the student, was fired from her job as a teacher just five months after she started at a high school in regional WA in early 2023.

The move followed a number of allegations against her, including one case where she allegedly pushed and kicked the chair of a year 8 student.

The woman was fired during her probationary period, and subsequently filed an unfair dismissal claim against the school.
