A United Airlines plane struck the tail of another United plane while on the ground at San Francisco International Airport Monday night, the airline said.
United Flight 1871 from San Francisco to Denver was pushing back from its gate when it struck the tail of United Flight 796, which was bound for Boston but still parked at its gate at the time of the collision, according to the airline and the FAA.
No injuries were reported, and passengers on both planes deplaned normally, according to the airline.
The airline said it arranged for different planes to take the passengers to their destinations.
The collision occurred in an area where air traffic controllers do not communicate with planes, according to the FAA.
The FAA said it will conduct an investigation.
