What do you do when you recognize the village doctor’s vehicle pulled over on the side of the road? You stop to see if he needs help of course. When you find out he’s trying to build a mountain bike trail with all the wrong tools, you head back to your house to get some tools and start helping — even though you don’t own a mountain bike and you’re pretty sure this is a harebrained idea.

That’s how Mountain Bike Minto trails in the small village of Minto, 50 kilometres northwest of Fredericton, N.B. began — a village doctor with a passion for mountain biking and a community that supported him. Today there are about 50 kilometres of trails that have become an area attraction for the former coal mining town. Small businesses, including a campground and motel have popped up to assist visitors
