State and federal law enforcement agencies are working on a Burke County death investigation following a Sunday fire where two people were found dead.

Burke County officials responded to a house fire on Swink Street in the Antioch community shortly before 4 p.m. on Sunday. The house was destroyed in the fire. Two people were found dead, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation Public information Officer Chad Flowers said on Tuesday.

The SBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were at the scene on Tuesday, according to the State Bureau of Investigation. The agencies are working with the Burke County Sheriff's Office on the investigation, Flowers said. An agent with the State Bureau of Investigation arson team was sent to help process the scene.
