MANCHESTER, Conn. (WFSB) - A Manchester school security guard has saved three lives over the last year and a half.

Leon Haberski is being hailed a hero.

Three times in the last 18 months, Haberski has rushed over and performed the Heimlich maneuver on a student choking on their lunch at Bennet Academy.

“I did four abdominal thrusts — or the Heimlich maneuver — a couple more abdominal thrusts, and it came flying out,” said Leon Haberski, lead security guard at Bennet Academy.

Thanks to Haberski’s first aid training, quick thinking, and calm demeanor, he saved all three students.

He now has lifelong connections with the students and their extremely grateful parents.

“The first time, it was very emotional. I thought about it, what could’ve happened,” Haberski said.
