CT Foodshare , a nonprofit committed to helping end hunger, announced they are getting a major boost from the state.
Winston Sutherland, the executive director of New Haven Soup Kitchen, said CT Foodshare has had a major impact on the clients they serve.

“I don’t think we would be able to feed everybody if it wasn’t for CT Foodshare," Sutherland said.
Sutherland said they serve about 10,000 meals to people in need every month.
"I calculate how much I need for the population, and I order it," Sutherland said. "And some stuff you pay for at a cheaper rate, and some stuff is free.”
The New Haven Soup Kitchen is one of the roughly 600 food pantries served by CT Foodshare.
