COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - What started as one child’s simple wish to help another has turned into a holiday tradition that now touches hundreds of families across the Brazos Valley.

Texas A&M student and Corps of Cadets member Charlie Borowczak has been named this week’s recipient of the Be Remarkable award, a recognition presented by KBTX and Daniel Stark Injury Lawyers to spotlight everyday heroes in the community.

Borowczak, 21, launched his grassroots nonprofit “Charlie’s Angels” at the age of six after asking his parents if he could adopt a child’s name from a Salvation Army Angel Tree. His father encouraged him to raise the money himself, and after a weekend of odd jobs with his grandfather, Borowczak proudly purchased gifts for a child in need.
