CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – A section of the Rail Trail will be closed for at least four months in South End beginning next week.

The Charlotte Area Transit System announced that a draining replacement project is forcing a the long-term closure of the paths along the Blue Line beginning Sept. 8, between Poindexter Drive and New Bern Street. This is near the New Bern Station and behind the MAA Reserve apartment complex.

Only one side of the trial will be closed at a time, CATS officials said, allowing for a convenient detour.

Signs will be in place to guide Rail Trail users away from the affected area and back to an open portion of the trail.

“We will provide updates as they are available and appreciate your patience during this time,” CATS officials said.
