A 43-year-old Victoria man who fled West Shore RCMP in his car when asked to stop has been slapped with multiple fines and penalty points.

Saturday evening (Aug. 30) officers attempted to stop a black Mazda CX-5, after responding to a report of a suspected impaired driver on Ocean Boulevard in Colwood.

Instead of stopping, the driver sped away, committing several dangerous motor vehicle infractions in the process, said an RCMP release. A short time later, officers located the vehicle and arrested the driver.

The driver was issued multiple violation tickets totalling over $1,000 in fines and 16 driver penalty points, including:

Excessive speed – $483 fine, 3 points;

Crossing a solid double line – $109 fine, 3 points;

Failing to stop for police – $144 fine, 3 points;
