HOUSTON — If you’re tired of unwanted sales pitches blowing up your phone, relief may finally be here. A new Texas law, Senate Bill 140, officially took effect on September 1, 2025 . It’s designed to stop telemarketing texts once and for all.
We’ve all been there: you’re in the middle of something, and suddenly your phone buzzes with a random text from a number you don’t recognize. On the other end is a sales pitch you never asked for.

Under the new law, businesses must:
Register with the state before sending solicitations by text.
