SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- Operation Prairie Thunder's saturation patrol last week got drugs off the streets and led to a significant number of arrests, which is something Gov. Rhoden explained to KELOLAND's Don Jorgensen Tuesday.

However, the reason behind Operation Prairie Thunder has drawn some criticism.

The backlash toward Operation Prairie Thunder started almost immediately because of its involvement with ICE. A large number of people shared concerns at a Sioux Falls City Council meeting in August.

Tuesday, South Dakota Voices for Peace and the ACLU of South Dakota said increasing law enforcement may not necessarily create a safer community.
