SAVOY, Ill. (WCIA) -- Parades weren't the only activities going on during Labor Day -- in fact one golf course in Champaign County said it's their busiest day of the year.

The United States Golf Association said last Labor Day, more than 1.3 million people played a round -- which is a record-breaking number. And the trend may be continuing in Central Illinois, according to the University of Illinois' golf course. One golf course employee even said they've been packed since the opening tee time.

"The turnout has been great today. We had over 300 people golf [on Labor Day]. It was very busy. We didn't have an open tee time till about 4. People just really seem to be enjoying the beautiful weather. Kind of getting that last round of golf in before fall comes" employee Taylor Reifsteck said.
