ROCHESTER, Minn.- Duane Hawkins, owner of the Kahler Barbershop in the Rochester subway is back in business starting this Tuesday, Sept. 2 after an almost 3 year hiatus that began in December of 2022.
Hawkins says he had to take a break from the business due to a battle with cancer in his kidneys.
But now that he is in remission he's looking forward to reopening and reuniting with the regulars he has come to know in the Rochester community over the past 40 years.
"I didn't even know if I was coming back for sure, it was just up in the air so I just kept paying rent and hoping I'd get back here," Hawkins said.
He says now that he's open again he is already getting calls from regulars who are excited to get back in his chair.
