MOORHEAD — After a year "without," Moorhead Schools now have school resource officers back in their buildings.
It comes at a time when school safety is top of mind for families, law enforcement and school leaders.
Moorhead SRO Jess Horn was the one person seventh- and eighth-graders at Horizon's east campus knew they could count on to help find rooms on this first day of school in Moorhead. And it was Horn's first day of the year as an SRO in the district. She joins officer Andy Werk, who's at the high school as a second SRO. This after staff shortages meant no SROs last year.
"You might have an interaction with a student one day and maybe it is not the most positive, but knowing that you can have contact again, rebuild that relationship in a positive light," Werk said.
