Disney will pay a $10 million fine to settle a lawsuit filed by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The lawsuit alleged that Disney allowed personal data to be collected from children under the age of 13.

The FTC stated that Disney failed to properly label some videos uploaded to YouTube as “made for kids.”

This mislabeling led to the collection of personal data from children through YouTube. The data was then used for targeted advertising to those children.

This practice goes against the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, which aims to protect the privacy of children under 13 online.
