A man was arrested Sunday in the killing of a woman that morning in Hampton, the Arkansas State Police said Tuesday.
Roderick Freemont, 55, faces a first-degree murder charge in the death of Katherine Brice, 62, of Hampton, state police said in a news release.
Hampton police officers and emergency medical personnel responding to a report of an assault at 6 a.m. Sunday found Brice unconscious and injured in a residence near the 600 block of South Second Street in Hampton, the release says. She was transported to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock, where she died Sunday evening, the release says.
Freemont was arrested after an investigation by the state police Criminal Investigation Division and was booked into the Calhoun County jail, the release says.
