A federal court in Los Angeles ruled that President Donald Trump violated the Posse Comitatus Act by deploying National Guard troops and Marines to the city during anti-ICE protests earlier this summer. The decision, championed by California Attorney General Rob Bonta, blocks Trump from using military forces for law enforcement in California, though about 300 Guard members remain in Los Angeles. Despite the ruling, Trump has vowed to send troops to other Democratic-led cities such as Chicago, where Governor JB Pritzker and city leaders have rejected the idea, calling it political theater. In Washington, D.C., more than 2,000 Guard troops continue to patrol streets.
