A man was hospitalized after being stabbed in the neck Tuesday afternoon in Homewood.

Pittsburgh Public Safety said officers were called to the 900 block of Brushton Avenue just before 5 p.m. for a stabbing.

Officers found the victim located nearby in the 7600 block of Baxter Street. The victim had a stab wound to the neck and police rendered aid until medics arrived.

Police said the victim was sent to a local hospital in critical condition, but was later upgraded to stable condition.

According to police, the victim told officers he was standing on the street when another man approached him and demanded money. The victim handed over cash and the suspect stabbed the victim before fleeing on foot.
