ORIENTAL, N.C. (WITN) - If you’re calling about a stray cat or dog in Pamlico County, animal control won’t be able to help right now, but the County is working on the issue and needs your input.
The County’s only animal control officer got into a car accident two months ago and after being vacant from the position until returning, leaders are trying to figure out what to do when that kind of call comes in.
Kennels are also full and not accepting new animals, leaving residents unsure of where to take strays, many of which are being left outside veterinary hospitals, Oriental officials say.
Pamlico County is seeking public input on the proposed funding for a county-wide Animal Control Program, which is estimated to cost $450,000.
