DERBY, Kan. (KWCH) - Last week, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation announced that they plan to start cracking down on drinks infused with THC.

This announcement left business owners uneasy.

In response, police in Derby sent out a letter advising these business owners to make sure they’re not selling anything illegal.

“The way we have been advised and what we’ve read is that anything that has THC is illegal,” said Brandon Russell, Derby’s chief of police. “Now you get into CBD oil and the 0.3 percent, that’s where it gets a little gray.”

The 2018 farm bill states that infused drinks can only contain up to 0.3 percent of THC, but the KBI and local businesses disagree about what that means.
