WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Dozens gathered on Wednesday to rally in support of peace and an end to gun violence.
Cure For Violence ICT often holds rallies after violent deaths, and this recent gathering follows three shootings that happened over the weekend.
Sonya Abodaca was one of many in attendance today. She says it’s too easy for young people to access guns and wants that to change.
“I’m all for second amendment, I get it, but these are teenagers,” said Sonya. “They can’t vote. You can’t do most things at 16, and yet you have a gun.”
Cure For Violence says they are dedicated to ending gun violence in Wichita.
“It’s normal because we’ve allowed it to be,” said Durell Gilmore, an outreach worker for the organization. “And we can change the norm because we want to.”
