WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Wichita Police Chief Joe Sullivan addressed a weekend of violence over Labor Day. The chief expressed his sympathy for the family members and loved ones of the victims.

He then commended Wichita Police Department staff for their hard work investigating the crimes.

“Their work over this difficult weekend was nothing short of extraordinary,” said Sullivan. “While others rested, they responded, investigated, and stood strong in the face of chaos.”

The chief also commended his department for making arrests in each deadly shooting from over the weekend, as well as the car crash that claimed the lives of a Wichita mother and daughter.

He then gave this message to anyone who commits a violent crime in the future.
