A Winter Garden family had an unwanted guest Saturday night when a large alligator appeared at their front door.

Shirliene Navarro told WESH 2 her son heard a thumping at their door sometime around 11.

"I believe it was his tail," she said Tuesday.

She said her son looked out a window and saw police, but nothing else. He took a picture and went to show his parents.

"When he showed me the picture, he goes, 'Oh my god, that's an alligator,'" she said. "He didn't even see it originally through the peephole,".
