President Donald Trump's lack of action toward some global strongmen has created a situation where a dagger is pointed "at the heart of the West," according to one analyst.

Van Jones, a former White House advisor in the Obama administration, joined CNN's "NewsNight with Abby Phillip" to discuss a meeting held on Tuesday between the leaders of Russia, India, and China. Jones warned that the meeting should concern every American, and that Trump's praise of the leaders could become historically significant.

"I think we're going to look back on today, historically, as a very big deal because that image of Xi Jinping with Putin with Modi from India, with the leader of Iran with the leader of North Korea, that should send a chill down the spine of every American," Jones said. "That is a new world order."

"They call it multipolar," Jones said. "I call it 'the West is now in a box.'"

On Tuesday, China's Xi Jinping, Russia's Vladimir Putin, and North Korea's Kim Jong Un jointly attended a military parade in Beijing that some analysts have described as a rebuke of the Western world. The parade capped off a week of meetings between global leaders.

Trump commented on Truth Social about the meeting during the parade.

"May President Xi and the wonderful people of China have a great and lasting day of celebration. Please give my warmest regards to Vladimir Putin, and Kim Jong-un, as you conspire against The United States of America,” Trump wrote.

Jones warned that Trump may be too late to respond to what's coming.

"That image is a feather in the cap of Putin, and a dagger pointed at the heart of the West," Jones said.
