CALERA, Ala. ( WBRC ) - We’re checking in on a new ordinance in Calera that requires children 13 and under to be accompanied by an adult at city park events.
That new rule was unanimously passed by city council back in August.
The first football game at Oliver Park under the new rule happened Friday. The Calera Eagles took on Central-Tuscaloosa. Though in the end, the home team fell, the new city-wide ordinance held firm.
Calera Police Chief David Hyche said he’s delighted to share there were very few problems at the game.
“We really didn’t have a lot of people not complying with it and I actually think we had more kids come with some adults with them that might’ve been in the past had not and it was a good experience,” said the chief.
