It was a hot Texas afternoon when David Scarbrough headed home from work. What seemed like any other day changed quickly when he spotted a woman with an exhausted mama dog and her eight tiny puppies.

David knew he could not simply ignore what he saw. He waved at her that day, but came back the next morning determined to help.

A Difficult Situation

Stopping his jeep at the curb, David introduced himself and offered food and water for the dogs. The mama dog, protective of her litter, barked nervously until the woman calmed her down.

She explained that her plan was to sell the puppies for $20 each so she could afford to have the mama fixed.
