GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - OpenAI says parental controls are coming to ChatGPT “within the next month.”
They include a way for you to link your account with your teen’s account and options to manage how ChatGPT responds to teenagers.
The announcement comes after the parents of a 16-year-old who killed himself filed a lawsuit against OpenAI alleging ChatGPT advised the teen on his suicide in California.
Last year, a Florida mother sued another platform called CharacterAI over its alleged role in her 14-year-old son’s suicide.
OpenAI didn’t directly tie its new parental controls to those reports. However, the company says in a news release that it’s sharing more details about its safety approaching following recent heartbreaking cases.
