MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Memphis police arrested a man who walked onto school property with a stolen gun, records show.
Officers responded to the 900 block of Tully Avenue for an armed party Sunday, Aug. 31 at 9:48 a.m. Court records show several men were holding guns.
An officer spotted one man walking near KIPP Memphis Collegiate School with a gun in his hand before he tried to conceal it, records show.
When the man walked onto school property, officers detained him and identified him as Jeffery Jones, records show.
According to a police affidavit, a black Glock 19 9mm was recovered and showed up as stolen from a 2024 motor vehicle theft report.
Jones is charged with carrying a weapon on school property and theft of property of $1,000-$2,500, records show.
