CLARA CITY, Minn. — Just a couple of weeks before a memorial ride will take place for Derek “Hooty” DuHoux, the National Transportation Safety Board released its final report on the July 25, 2023, airplane crash that took his life.
DuHoux, 34, of Clara City, died Aug. 2, 2023, at CentraCare — St. Cloud Hospital of the injuries he suffered when the crop duster plane he was flying over a corn field crashed near Clara City.
The NTSB determined that the probable cause of the accident was a failure to maintain clearance from a transmission line.
According to the report released on Aug. 28, DuHoux was piloting an Air Tractor AT-402B airplane at 7:11 a.m. on the day of the crash. He was making an approach consistent with a cleanup pass when the tail assembly of his plane impacted the lowest
