One week before disgraced former Boston City Councilor Tania Fernandes Anderson is scheduled to be sentenced on federal corruption charges, prosecutors and defense lawyers on Friday filed dueling sentencing memos.
More than 90 Anderson supporters, including three city councilors and other elected officials, wrote letters to US District Judge Indira Talwani asking her to exercise leniency at Fernandes Anderson’s sentencing hearing on Sept. 5.
Prosecutors asked for a prison sentence of a year and a day, while Fernandes Anderson’s assistant federal public defender requested probation and community service.
If prison is part of the sentence, Fernandes Anderson’s court-appointed lawyer asked that his client serve no more than six months.
