(WJW) -- You don't see this every day.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) shared a video Tuesday showing what they described as a "volnado" forming near an erupting fountain of lava in Hawaii.

“We know you’ve heard of a volcano…but how about a volnado?” a social media post from the agency said.

The video shows a vortex slowly forming next to an active lava fountain at the Kilauea volcano.

"This afternoon, during episode 32 fountaining at Kīlauea the V3 live camera (https://ow.ly/tSiq50WPZKv) caught this whirlwind kicking up loose ash deposits along the active fountain and flow within Halemaʻumaʻu crater," the post said.

The event itself lasted about a minute.

The eruption seen in the video ended around 8 p.m. Tuesday and, according to the USGS, produced about 12.5 million cubic yards
