A Marion County judge has found a man not guilty of child exploitation and child pornography charges, stating that while the defendant’s actions “should be against the law,” the current statute does not apply to his specific case. The defendant, a former Marion County employee, was accused of using artificial intelligence to superimpose the headshots of juvenile girls onto nude images of women. While finding the man not guilty on most charges, Judge James Osborn said he believes the law should be changed. The judge noted that the current statute does not include language about whether the defendant was aware of the child’s age, despite evidence suggesting he was.
