Solvang is celebrating its Danish heritage during the 88th annual Danish Days Festival , slated for Sept. 19-21, featuring parades, music, food and family-fun activities in downtown Solvang.

This year, themed "Be Happy — Vær Glæde!," the festival will honor the town’s Danish-American roots as a community event held since 1936.

Part of that tradition is the Danish Maid, a proud role in which the fourth-generation local Addie Madrid, 17, was crowned, becoming the official ambassador of the 2025 heritage festival.

According to organizers the Solvang Danish Days Foundation, event highlights will include traditional aebleskiver breakfasts and eating contests, a Kids' Corner, Viking encampments, living history demonstrations, dancing, and the Torchlight Parade.
