SACRAMENTO, Calif. - California has extended the timeline for some wildfire reduction projects, allowing them up to five years to complete on-the-ground work.

The extension follows California Governor Gavin Newsom's Emergency Proclamation on wildfire.

These projects span tens of thousands of acres and aim to reduce wildfire risk while maintaining environmental protections.

California recognizes that reducing wildfire risk involves multiple stages of treatment. The regulatory suspensions apply to projects funded by several state grant programs, including CAL FIRE Wildfire Prevention Grants and CAL FIRE Forest
