OAKLAND, Calif. - Pacific Gas and Electric Company announced on Tuesday that they have decreased electric rates for residential customers by 2.1% as of September 1.

According to PG&E, the reduction translates to a savings of approximately $5 per month for customers using 500 kilowatt hours, without any discounts.

The decrease in rates comes after PG&E completed several projects to enhance wildfire safety and emergency response, which allowed the removal of temporary costs from customer bills.

In addition to the rate reduction, residential customers will receive a $58.23 California Climate Credit in their October billing cycle. This credit is part of the state's initiative to support utility customers during the transition to a low-carbon future.
