(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A bear was wandering around the backyards of homes near Barnes Road and Austin Bluffs Parkway, sampling bird feeders and testing chicken coops, before wildlife officers interrupted its neighborhood visit on Tuesday, Sept. 2, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) Southeast Region.
According to CPW, the 175-pound black bear had made its way through five backyards, climbing fences and trees, trying to get in the feeders and coops. CPW informed neighbors of their unexpected visitor as officers immobilized the bear, which had climbed up into a blue spruce.
Colorado Springs Police Department officers helped lug the bear to CPW's trailer, where it was tagged and given a "wake-up" drug. Once it was back on its feet, CPW took it to a better home in the Southeast Regi
