The public will gather Wednesday to mourn the life of an officer killed in the line of duty.

Kansas City, Kansas, police officer Hunter Simoncic will be remembered Wednesday in a memorial service at Children's Mercy Park in KCK, followed by a procession through the city. Advertisement

Simoncic, 26, was on foot attempting to deploy stop sticks when he was run down by a vehicle fleeing a chase on Aug. 26.

The suspect in Simoncic's death now faces multiple charges, including capital murder, in connection with the incident.

Simoncic's memorial service is scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
