NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Cody Beaudette spent two weeks in jail for a crime he did not commit and is now working to rebuild his life after being mistakenly accused in the fatal hit-and-run of a 6-year-old boy.
Nearly three weeks ago, Beaudette found himself handcuffed in a St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office cruiser.

“You just could hear my six-year-old screaming at the top of her lungs and, you know, tears from fear,” Beaudette said.
Deputies initially identified Beaudette as the prime suspect after a child was killed while riding a scooter in the driveway of his Slidell-area home on Aug. 13. Beaudette told investigators he was in the area at the time for his daughter’s cheerleading practice.
