Northwestern University professor Nina Kraus, 72, was found alive near her Evanston home on Tuesday afternoon and was transported to a nearby hospital, according to police and local reports.
Kraus was found behind some large trees and bushes in a front-yard garden just one door down from Kraus' home, the woman who said she found Kraus told CBS News Chicago . The woman, who lives in the neighborhood, said she called out Kraus' name, and Kraus responded.
The Evanston Police Department said on Facebook that Kraus had been located, and she was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Earlier on Tuesday, the police department said it was flying a drone along the lakefront as part of a missing person investigation.
