Ben & Jerry’s opened at 1422 Euclid Ave. in the Hanna Building in Playhouse Square in downtown Cleveland on Aug. 29.

The ice cream shop is part of Playhouse Square’s “Beyond the Stage” initiative to enhance the experience of its guests while also providing a welcoming environment for other Cleveland residents and visitors.

The location is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday and Monday, and from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Ben & Jerry’s also has a location in University Heights.

The company was founded by Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, who had been friends since childhood. Greenfield graduated from Oberlin College. They sold the company to Unilever in 2006 for $326 million.
