Syracuse, N.Y. – A Syracuse man was sentenced Tuesday to 27 years to life in prison for stabbing a woman 38 times and leaving her to die outside a vacant home.
Maurice Delee , 48, was convicted by a jury in June of second-degree murder and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
On Oct. 25, 2023, Delee entered the home at 1511 First North St. where Felicia I. Davis , 29, was sheltering, and stabbed her repeatedly in a bedroom with a large kitchen knife.
“She was a mother, an aunt, who will never get to meet her nieces and nephews” Catherine Alexander, stepmother of Davis, said at the sentencing.
Alexander said Davis struggled with mental health issues throughout her life, but had started to turn things around. She was working full time and had a network of family willing to su
