State schools Superintendent Ryan Walters was a no-show, but the Oklahoma State Board of Education hired an attorney and began the process of hiring a board secretary during a special meeting .

Four board members who have been at odds with Walters since their appointment earlier this year by Gov. Kevin Stitt showed up to the Oklahoma Senate meeting room inside the state Capitol on the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 3. At 10 a.m., the time posted on the meeting agenda, the doors to the room closed.
