ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — Firefighters were sent to an Altoona home Wednesday after the back porch of the residence caught fire.
Emergency crews were sent to the home along 7th Avenue at 11:53 a.m. for a two-story structure with heavy smoke showing. According to the Altoona Fire Department, a woman and two kids were home when the call came in. It was noted that six kids total live at the residence.
Firefighters said that the fire started in the back porch laundry room area of the home and the cause is under investigation.
The Salvation Army and Red Cross are offering assistance to the family.
