WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — State Auditor Dave Boliek has doubled down on his recommendation that the North Carolina State Board of Education get an audit firm involved in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools' budget mess.
This morning, he re-shared a letter he wrote to the state board on August 19, in which he criticized the district for poor accounting procedures and mismanagement, leading to a $46 million budget deficit.
He asked the State Board of Education and the local government commission to hire an audit firm to review the district.
But in his tweet today, he indicated that the request has gone unanswered and expressed frustration that the topic isn't even on the board's agenda this week.
He said if the board doesn't take action, it'll be failing parents, students and taxpayers
