A woman died today after she crashed a stolen vehicle while she was chased by police in northeast Fort Wayne.

A Fort Wayne Police Department officer was patrolling about 7 a.m. when he saw a white Chevrolet Tahoe that matched a vehicle reported stolen, the agency said in a news release.

The officer pulled behind the vehicle to initiate a traffic stop near the intersection of Lake Avenue and Reed Street, and the driver drove through a red light and fled.

The driver collided with a vehicle near the intersection of Lake and Old Maysville Road. The crash caused minor injuries to the occupant of that vehicle, the news release said.

The stolen vehicle continued driving east. It left the roadway near Lake and Wyss Road and crashed into trees.
