FARGO — The other towns and universities on the list are self-explanatory. What are the best college football towns in America? You don't have to be a Saturday pigskin connoisseur to think of Baton Rouge, Madison, Austin, Ann Arbor and the like. Captain Obvious, man.

But tucked right there at the end the Washington Post's list of "The 10 Best College Football Towns in America" is one, frankly, that isn't like the others. The football is played at a lower level, the university isn't massive and the stadium isn't ginormous.

There is a championship pedigree, though. And how. Not to mention a 20-year history of unforgettable games, victories over bigger opponents and multiple first-round draft picks in the NFL.

Yeah, we're talking North Dakota State.
