For those movie-lovers who like nothing better than comparing – and often criticizing – remakes, then Netflix has made it incredibly easy for Stephen King fans to remind themselves of his 1987 cult favorite, The Running Man, before the Edgar Wright-directed remake arrives in cinemas. The Arnold Schwarzenegger movie charged onto the streamer on September 1, seemingly making its run at just the right moment to catch the hype for the Glen Powell-starring new take on King’s (or Richard Bachman’s, as it was) story of a dystopian future when TV ratings are worth more than a human life. Perhaps it seemed a little more sci-fi when it was published in 1982 than it does now.
