HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF)- A Hamilton County commissioner who was angry over a report of inappropriate travel reimbursements issued an apology Wednesday morning.

Commissioner Gene-O Shipley was one of five Hamilton County commissioners who was found to have been reimbursed for traveling between their homes and the Courthouse for Commission meetings.

Commissioner Shipley was outraged at last week’s meeting, which included him psychically handing a check to Hamilton County Auditor Chris McCullough for the amount of money he was told he owed.

He said that he may have been too hasty in his remarks.

Commissioner Shipley said, “He could have handled it better, I could have handled it differently. He went all the way back to 2017 and found that it involved so many people that’s long gone
