CLEVELAND, Ohio — An Egyptian-born hospital chaplain jailed in Ohio will face an immigration trial that could decide whether he is deported to Egypt — where his lawyers say he risks torture and death — or allowed to remain in the United States, his home for the past 11 years.
Cleveland Immigration Judge Jennifer Riedthaler-Williams set Ayman Soliman ’s trial for Dec. 15. The trial is expected to last between two and four days, attorneys said.
“It’s going to take a lot of time,” Soliman’s attorney, Rob Ratliff said of the trial. “We have a heavy burden.”
