Carson Beck did not see the play that may be the best play of the 2025 season.
Under pressure from Notre Dame’s defense late in the first half, Beck tossed a pass high toward veteran wide receiver CJ Daniels, trusting that the fellow transfer would be able to haul it in.
“I had to back up a little bit, and I threw it off my back foot as I was getting thrown to the ground,” Beck said. “So I didn’t even see him catch it. I just saw him in the end zone.”
The throw was high, but Daniels snatched the ball out of the air with one hand, preventing a possible interception and scoring an improbable go-ahead touchdown for the Hurricanes in both Beck and Daniels’ first game at UM.
